Job Summary

About the Position

As a Production Manager you will oversee the end-to-end production management of performances events and venue hires across Arts Centre Melbourne. Working closely with presenters artists technical teams and internal stakeholders you will coordinate production planning technical requirements budgets schedules and risk management to ensure every event is delivered safely efficiently and to the highest professional standard. This hands-on role requires strong technical expertise exceptional stakeholder management and the ability to balance multiple priorities in a dynamic live performance environment.

Skills and requirements

  • Relevant qualification in Production or equivalent experience
  • Extensive production or event management experience
  • Strong knowledge of theatre production and venue operations
  • Experience managing live events from planning to delivery
  • Ability to prepare production schedules and technical documentation
  • Experience managing production budgets and financial forecasting
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills
  • Experience interpreting technical riders and production requirements
  • Knowledge of backstage operations in at least one technical discipline
  • Strong understanding of workplace health and safety requirements
  • Experience developing and managing event risk assessments
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and tight deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities
  • Experience using Vectorworks CAD and Microsoft Office
  • Experience using event management systems such as EBMS (desirable)
  • Ability to lead cross-functional production teams and collaborate with diverse stakeholders
  • Willingness to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends as required
  • Valid working rights in Australia
  • Satisfactory National Police Check required

Full time Fixed Term Contract December 2026 Band 4.1 $99116 pa 12% superannuation
