About the Opportunity

The Privacy Compliance Manager leads the Universitys privacy compliance program through consultative and constructive interaction with element leadership managers and liaisons. Success depends on a risk-based approach to define priorities a commitment to foster strong relationships open communication towards stakeholders and dedication to cultivating behaviours and actions that uphold and reinforce integrity accountability and transparency

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage Right to Information (RTI) administrative access and related privacy complaints.
  • Conduct and supervise investigations into RTI administrative access matters and privacy complaints; identify and resolve systemic privacy issues in collaboration with University staff.
  • Lead the development and delivery of privacy education training and awareness programs.
  • Monitor legislative changes and update University policies procedures and templates accordingly.
  • Support the Universitys privacy compliance program and assist the Privacy Officer with RTI administrative access and complaint matters.
  • Maintain and report statistics on RTI administrative access and privacy complaints to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Liaise with regulatory bodies during compliance reviews and investigations.
  • Develop and implement a risk-based privacy compliance program aligned with University strategy and legal requirements.
  • Guide continuous improvement of the Universitys privacy compliance framework in collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Advise senior leadership on privacy obligations including data mapping risk assessments and privacy impact assessments.
  • Support internal audits and advise privacy champions across the University.
  • Promote accountability by advising on and monitoring corrective actions.
  • Represent privacy interests in University committees and working groups to enhance privacy practices.
  • Provide regular updates and reports to senior management and the Audit & Risk Committee on compliance progress.

About you

  • The occupant of this position will hold relevant postgraduate qualifications (preferably legal qualifications) with at least five (5) years-experience in a similar role or have an equivalent level of expertise obtained from a combination of experience training professional accreditation and qualification.

Candidates must have full unrestricted Australian work rights and may be subject to a National criminal history check.

What we can offer

This is a full time continuing opportunity primarily based Brisbane South (Nathan). As Griffith is a multi-site university you may be required to work across other locations.

Griffith Universitys sites are located on the lands of the Yugarabul Yuggera Jagera Turrbal Yugambeh and Kombumerri peoples.

Salary

HEW 10 - Base salary of $147057.74 17% super. Full package $172057.55.
