About the area

The Australian Centre for RNA Therapeutics in Cancer (ACRTC) is a nationally significant RNA innovation hub dedicated to translating cutting-edge RNA science into real treatments for hard-to-treat cancers. Bringing together RNA technologists oncologists computational biologists AI and machine learning specialists patient advocates and industry partners the Centre is creating a powerful translational ecosystem focused on delivering meaningful outcomes for patients.

This position forms part of the RNA Optimisation for Biological Utility and Stability (ROBUST) program a major multi-year initiative developing next-generation technologies to design mRNA with enhanced stability and therapeutic performance.

The role offers a unique opportunity to engage with world leaders in RNA computation RNA structure cell biology and AI through scientific advisory networks international collaborations and industry partnerships. With clearly defined clinical use cases embedded within the program your discoveries will have a direct pathway from fundamental research to translational and clinical impact.

About the opportunity

  • Design conduct and analyse cutting-edge in vitro phase separation biochemical and microscopy-based studies to investigate how RNA structure and RNA-protein interactions influence biomolecular condensates RNA stability and therapeutic performance.
  • Access a globally unique RNA dataset and contribute to innovative research leading to high-impact publications translational outcomes and intellectual property development.
  • Work within a vibrant collaborative and highly productive research team operating at the intersection of RNA biology structural biology nanotechnology artificial intelligence and cancer therapeutics.

About you

  • PhD in Structural Biology Molecular Biology Biophysics or a closely related discipline.
  • Demonstrated research track record with peer-reviewed publications and experience in one or more of the following areas: biomolecular condensates phase separation studies in vitro assay development microscopy RNA biology structural biology or related molecular bioscience techniques.
  • Demonstrated expertise in experimental design data interpretation and the application of molecular biology or biochemical approaches to complex biological questions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with experience working effectively across multidisciplinary teams and diverse stakeholders.
  • Interest in translating research into real-world impact including intellectual property development commercialisation pathways or therapeutic innovation.
