People and Culture Coordinator
Job Summary

We are seeking for a People and Culture Coordinator in Sydney to join our P&C team. Youll provide consistent and reliable operational support across the end-to-end employee life cycle and core people processes including but not limited to: coordinating recruitment processes administration employee onboarding maintenance of employee records co-managing the HR inbox and assisting with the ongoing implementation and operation of the global HRIS (Oracle).
This role is being offered on a full-time permanent basis.
In this role you will
- Provide full-cycle support on all recruitment and talent acquisition activities including advertising shortlisting liaison with managers applicant tracking maintenance interview scheduling/interviewing reference checking contract drafting and processing new starter paperwork and ensuring all recruitment practices adhere to Guardian Australias recruitment policy.
- Oversee the onboarding process for new starters including working with IT P&C and leaders to ensure new starters are set up appropriately completing orientations facilitating compliance training and taking all new starters through key policies and procedures.
- Provide administrative support to the P&C team with cyclical and ad-hoc people activities including appraisals remuneration reviews employee engagement reporting etc.
- Support with the coordination of learning and development activity including day to day training logistics.
- Respond to employee queries confidentially escalating to the P&C team as appropriate.
- Manage flexible working requests in consultation with the HR Manager ensuring they are appropriately documented and addressed in a timely manner.
- Manage administration associated with parental leave requests.
- Promote a safe and secure workplace and administer workers compensation claims.
- Alongside the P&C team review and update employee-related policies and procedures and keep employee site up to date.
- Update and maintain employee records and data so that information is accurate up to date and secure.
- Assist with the management testing and improvement of our HRIS including logging issues through our ticketing support system based in the UK and being a primary point of contact for employees needing assistance using the system.
- Support the implementation of our diversity and inclusion strategy and support the D&I strategy championing initiatives across the organisation.
- Support the implementation of inclusive work practices and policies in collaboration with the P&C team.
- Onboard new suppliers raise POs and assist with invoicing for the P&C team including liaising with the UK team to ensure the process is completed in a timely manner.

Knowledge and experience
- Minimum 2 years HR experience ideally as a HR coordinator or HR administrator with experience gained in a high volume transactional environment.
- Experience in recruitment talent acquisition and selection practices.
- Understanding of sensitivities surrounding information going into the public domain and working in a media organisation.
- Experience of working in a unionised environment is preferred.
- A sound understanding of the principles of good HR practice and knowledge of employment law/legislation.
- Experience working as part of a team in a professional environment.
- Experience dealing with a diverse range of stakeholders and situations.
- Knowledge and interest in current affairs and an interest in and understanding of the Guardian brand.
