The opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Payroll Manager tojoin our Finance team on a 3-month fixed-term contractcommencing in early September.
This role has been created to provide payroll leadership andadditional capacity during a busy period supporting bothbusiness-as-usual payroll operations and key payroll projectsincluding a planned period of leave within the team. You will leada small payroll function including one direct report and overseethe end-to-end payroll function for approximately 850 employeesacross fortnightly and monthly payroll addition tomanaging day-to-day payroll operations the successful candidatewill support internal audit activities and payroll systemtroubleshooting as required.
Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end delivery of fortnightly and monthly payroll processing ensuring accuracy compliance and timeliness.
- Provide leadership coaching and support to the Senior Payroll Officer.
- Act as the key escalation point for complex payroll queries and stakeholder matters.
- Ensure compliance with payroll legislation Single Touch Payroll requirements superannuation obligations and internal policies.
- Manage payroll reconciliations reporting salary packaging and payroll-related audits.
- Partner closely with People & Culture and Finance teams on payroll matters employee lifecycle activities and reporting requirements.
- Produce payroll reports reconciliations and insights for management and key stakeholders.
- Support payroll-related project activities including system enhancements testing and process improvement initiatives.
- Support month-end activities and maintain robust payroll processes controls and documentation.
- Support Aurion system administration and payroll-related system activities.
Requirements
- Significant end-to-end payroll experience within a medium to large organisation ideally within a law firm professional services financial services or similarly complex environment.
- Experience managing fortnightly and monthly payroll cycles.
- Strong knowledge of Australian payroll legislation and compliance requirements.
- Experience supervising mentoring or leading payroll team members or acting as a senior payroll subject matter expert.
- Aurion experience highly desirable; Workday exposure advantageous.
- Strong reporting reconciliation and stakeholder management skills.
- Highly organised detail-oriented and able to manage competing priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
