About the role

Reporting to the Head of People Operationsyoullact as a key connection between Payroll People Systems andIndustrialRelations ensuring employment conditions and award interpretations are accurately reflected in our payroll system and processes.

Youllestablishquality assurance activities conductproactivecompliance checksidentifypayroll risksand opportunitiesand support remediation contribute to payroll system improvements including requirements gathering testing and implementation.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Establishing andmaintaininga program of payroll compliance checks controltestingand quality audits.

  • Monitoring the accuracyeligibilityand timeliness of payments against awards enterprise agreements employment contractslegislationand organisational policies.

  • Partnering withIndustrialRelations and People teams to translate award interpretations and employment conditions into payroll system requirements and controls.

  • Identifyingpayroll risks control gaps and potential leakage through analysis and root-cause investigation.

  • Supporting payroll reviewsauditsand remediation activities ensuring issues are resolved and outcomes communicated appropriately.

  • Developing andmaintainingcontemporary payroll policiesproceduresand governance frameworks.

  • Working with People Systems and Payroll leaders to scope test and implement system configuration and technology improvements.

  • Consolidatingand reviewing payroll reporting and reconciliations toidentifytrendsrisksand opportunities.

  • Providingpractical advice to leaders and internal stakeholders on payroll requirements compliancerisksand organisational impacts.

  • Driving continuous improvement to streamline processes strengthen controls and enhance service delivery.

What you can bring to the team

Yourean experienced payroll professional with strong technical knowledge and a genuine interest in compliancesystemsand continuous working across complex awards and enterprise agreements and can turn detailed legislative or payroll requirements into practical processes and controls.

You build trusted relationships acrossdifferent functions communicate complex information clearly and approach problems with sound judgementdiscretionand attention to detail.

To succeed in this role you will have:

  • Significant end-to-end payroll experience within a large or complex organisation.

  • Strong knowledge of Australian payroll legislation statutory obligationsawardsand enterprise agreements.

  • Experienceidentifyingpayroll risks conducting controltestingand resolving or escalating compliance issues.

  • Demonstrated experience undertaking payroll audits internalreviewsor remediation activities.

  • Experience developing and implementing payroll policiesproceduresand governance frameworks.

  • Experience definingtestingand implementing payroll system or configuration improvements.

  • Strong analytical problem-solving and stakeholder engagement skills.

  • The ability to manage competing priorities and deliver outcomes within requiredtimeframes.

  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills; Power BI capability will be highly regarded.

  • Experience with PeopleSoft or another complex enterprise payroll system will be highly regarded.

  • You willbe requiredto undertake a Fit2Work National Criminal History Check and hold or be willing to obtain a Blue Card and NDIS Worker Screening Check.
