Operational Risk Advisor

Your Opportunity

As our Operational Risk Advisor youll join our Group Risk & Compliance team and support the business in effectively identifying assessing and managing operational risk.

Youll act as a trusted advisor across Cuscal providing practical risk guidance and independent Line 2 assurance while helping embed strong risk frameworks and processes across the organisation. Youll also contribute to non-financial risk reporting for management committees and the Board. 

Youll make an impact by:

• Conducting independent Line 2 assurance reviews of operational incidents and issues.
• Partnering with business units to assess and manage operational risks and strengthen controls.
• Analysing operational risk data to identify trends and provide meaningful insights.
• Supporting the management and resolution of operational incidents issues and control gaps.
• Working with the business to develop practical action plans following assurance reviews.
• Supporting root cause analysis and identifying trends across operational incidents and issues.
• Reporting monthly Key Risk Indicators for non-financial risk.
• Reviewing and maintaining Board-approved non-financial risk policies.
• Liaising with auditors to support the closure of audit findings.
• Contributing to risk education training and broader risk uplift initiatives across Cuscal.

Qualifications :

What youll bring

To succeed in this role youll have:

• Experience working with non-financial risk and compliance frameworks within financial services.
• A solid understanding of operational and non-financial risk within the banking or finance industry.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to turn risk information into practical insights.
• Experience embedding operational risk management frameworks into business processes.
• Strong stakeholder management skills with the confidence to build relationships and influence across different levels of an organisation.
• The ability to work autonomously manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality outcomes with strong attention to detail.

Youll stand out from the crowd if you have:

• Experience providing operational risk advice within banking payments or broader financial services.
• Exposure to Line 2 assurance operational incidents issues and control assessments.
• A tertiary qualification in commerce finance or another business-related discipline.
