Job Summary

About the role

The role is responsible for the development application and communication of modelling projections and analytics to support strategic workforce planning and decision-making across the Department. This involves identification understanding and evaluation of available data preparing analysing and interpreting large and complex datasets as well as developing and maintaining models.

The Manager will work collaboratively across business units to inform workforce resourcing monitor trends and support planning activities that underpin high-quality education delivery across NSW public schools.

About you

  • Expertise in workforce modelling and analysis with the ability to maintain and improve workforce models (such as entitlement and supply/demand models) to produce reliable auditable and engaging stakeholder outcomes.
  • Strong project and team management skills capable of leading multiple direct reports across several projects simultaneously while improving systems and processes for transparency and reproducibility.
  • Ability to provide strategic advice using complex human resources data and analysis synthesising this information into evidence-based persuasive recommendations for school workforce programs and initiatives.
  • Proactive risk management and problem-solving including responding promptly to emerging issues with strategic insights and linking modelling outputs to financial and operational impacts.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and collaborative culture demonstrated by supporting professional learning innovation and developing clear work plans with defined deliverables and success indicators.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the DepartmentsAboriginal Education Policyand upholding theDepartments Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECGand to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.

Essential requirements of the role

  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to thevalue of public education.
  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline (e.g. data science statistics economics computer science mathematics public policy) and/or demonstrated equivalent experience.
  • At least 3 years of experience coding in Python to create data pipelines and analysis using libraries such as Numpy and Pandas or equivalent.
