Job Summary

  • Work with a management team to lead State Heritage Register listing to protect places of significance across NSW.
  • Temporary full-time opportunity (up to August 2028) 35 hours per week
  • Location: Parramatta or negotiable within NSW hybrid working supported
  • Salary relative to experience and ranges from $157257 to $172589 super

Our Heritage NSW team is currently seeking to appoint a Manager Heritage Programs to work with a management team to lead the delivery of the State Heritage Register listing program that protects commemorates or celebrates Aboriginal and environmental heritage across NSW.

As Manager Heritage Programs you will lead a multidisciplinary team delivering heritage listings across NSW. Working closely with Aboriginal communities landholders government agencies and community stakeholders you will drive initiatives that protect commemorate or celebrate items of cultural significance. You will provide strategic advice on complex heritage matters guide program delivery and support heritage recognition conservation and management outcomes that benefit communities across the state.

About you

We are seeking a heritage professional who is passionate about protecting and promoting the rich cultural Aboriginal and environmental heritage of NSW.

You will bring experience in heritage archaeology architecture Aboriginal cultural heritage management or a related field with a track record of leading teams and delivering complex programs in a dynamic environment. You are a strong communicator that can provide sound advice on heritage management issues and apply your knowledge to achieve practical and sustainable outcomes. Experience interpreting heritage legislation undertaking assessments and working with diverse stakeholders will be highly regarded.

You are a collaborative customer-focused and solutions-oriented influential leader who builds strong relationships with diverse stakeholders. Comfortable navigating complex and sometimes sensitive issues you balance competing priorities and bring a proactive practical approach to delivering quality outcomes for communities and heritage across NSW.

This opportunity is ideal for someone who enjoys working at the intersection of heritage conservation community engagement and public service and is committed to making a positive contribution to the protection of NSWs heritage for future generations.

Key knowledge and experience

  • Demonstrated experience in conservation and/or program management.

Essential requirements

  • Tertiary qualifications and/or extensive experience in heritage archaeology Aboriginal cultural heritage or related field.
  • Current NSW Driver Licence and ability and willingness to travel throughout the state when required.
