Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and hands-on Maintenance Technician Automation to support and improve automated systems across our farming processing and packing operations based in Kalbar QLD. This role is ideal for an experienced technician who enjoys fault finding industrial automation continuous improvement and working across diverse production environments where no two days are the same.
You will play a key role in improving equipment reliability reducing downtime and supporting the continued growth and automation of our operations.
About the Role
Reporting to the Head of Engineering this role combines hands-on maintenance with automation support and engineering improvement initiatives across the companys operations. You will work closely with maintenance engineering and operational teams to maintain equipment reliability and support ongoing automation and optimisation projects across both field operations and processing facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and resolve faults in PLC-controlled equipment sensors drives and instrumentation
- Support troubleshooting and optimisation of industrial automation systems
- Perform preventative and reactive maintenance on production equipment and mobile plant
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to improve equipment reliability and minimise downtime
- Assist with commissioning automation upgrades equipment modifications and engineering projects
- Identify and implement practical process and equipment improvements
- Maintain accurate maintenance records within CMMS systems
- Work collaboratively with maintenance engineering and operational teams across both field-based and processing operations
- Provide timely communication and technical support across departments
The Candidate
To be successful youll ideally have:
- Trade qualification in Electrical Mechatronics Industrial Automation or related discipline
- Experience within industrial maintenance manufacturing automation or FMCG environments
- Strong fault-finding skills across electrical mechanical and control systems
- Hands-on experience with PLC systems and industrial automation
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical drawings
- Strong commitment to safety quality and continuous improvement
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
