About this Opportunity

Join our newly established surge bushfire response team supporting the Towong Shire community as a LinC this rewarding role you will play a vital part in ensuring participants carers and families receive valuable and supportive mental health care as part of the BWM Mental Health and Wellbeing Local. Drawing on your lived experience and interpersonal skills you will support participants to build confidence develop social connections reduce isolation and strengthen their ability to self-manage mental health and wellbeing challenges.


Working directly with participants and their supporters you will provide 1:1 support facilitate group activities and model positive community engagement. The role also involves delivering education and upskilling activities to community members service providers and local service staff to increase awareness of the impacts of social isolation on mental health and wellbeing. This may include developing resources facilitating training sessions and contributing to meaningful community recovery and resilience initiatives.


You will need:

  • Certificate IV Mental Health/AOD Peer Work SHARC Peer Worker Training Intentional Peer Support or willingness to complete
  • Personal experience of mental distress and accessing and navigating healthcare services including mental health services
  • Relevant experience in a community engagement or peer worker role

You will also need:

  • Current valid Drivers License and the ability to undertake travel for the role
  • Current Working with Children Check and NDIS Workers Screening Check
  • Right to Work within Australia
  • Satisfactory National Police Records Check (valid within the last 12 months)
  • NDIS Worker Orientation Module Certificate
