Investment Banking Analyst M&A Advisory Sydney
A boutique independent M&A advisory firm in Sydney is looking for a highly motivated Analyst to join its deal team. This is a generalist M&A house advising on sell-side and buy-side transactions capital raisings and restructurings for private business owners public companies private equity firms and family offices with a strategic alliance giving genuine reach into global mid-market deal flow. Senior bankers stay closely involved at every stage of a deal so youll get direct client and leadership exposure from day one rather than years into your tenure.
This is a strong next step for someone coming from a Big 4 Valuations M&A or Transaction Services background who wants to move onto the advisory side and own live deal execution rather than sit in a supporting or diligence capacity.
What youll be doing:
- Supporting execution of live M&A transactions through detailed financial analysis including valuation and M&A scenarios
- Building and maintaining financial models including DCF LBO comparable companies and precedent transaction analysis
- Assisting due diligence processes including analysing company information and identifying key risks
- Preparing high-quality client materials including pitch books teasers confidential information memoranda and management presentations
- Conducting industry market and company research to support new business development
- Managing workflows across multiple live projects and prioritising tasks effectively
- Participating in client calls and meetings taking notes and preparing materials in advance
- Reviewing your own work for accuracy logical consistency and completeness before submission
What were looking for:
- Bachelors degree in finance economics accounting or a related field
- 0 to 3 years of relevant experience in a Big 4 Valuations M&A Advisory or Transaction Services team or equivalent investment banking experience
- Strong grounding in core valuation methodologies (DCF comparable companies precedent transactions) and financial modelling
- A genuine interest in moving from a diligence valuation or advisory-support capacity into full deal execution
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced deadline-driven environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
