Job Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and passionate Head of Learning - Science to join St Leonards College from Term 1 2027.

As a member of the Academic Directorate the Head of Learning - Science will lead the Science faculty with vision and a commitment to continuous improvement working closely with the Deputy Head of Learning - Science and other key staff to ensure a cohesive and high-quality Science program across the College.

This pivotal leadership role provides the chance to shape the learning journey of students from Years 5-12 inspiring each learner to achieve their potential in a progressive and engaging environment. Strong pedagogical expertise leadership capability and exceptional organisational and interpersonal skills are essential for success.

This is a permanent full-time teaching position with the Head of Learning - Science role offered with a 3-year tenure as a position of responsibility. The Head of Learning - Science role includes a time allocation and a monetary allowance and an appropriate teaching subject allocation will be negotiated with the successful candidate.

To be successful in this opportunity you will require:

  • Relevant teaching qualifications and registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT).
  • Demonstrated outstanding classroom teaching skills across years 5 - 12.
  • Experience teaching VCE and/or the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme.
  • Contemporary knowledge of Science curriculum pedagogy and assessment.
  • Knowledge of contemporary pedagogy and innovative use of ICT in the classroom to enrich learning.
  • Outstanding written verbal and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in planning programs and the management of budgets and resources.
  • Ability to lead a team and actively support and develop team members.
  • Well-developed planning organisational and administrative skills.
  • Demonstrates a solutions-oriented approach to problem solving.
  • An active contributor to a collegial work environment.
  • Willingness to uphold the ethos and values of the College
