Job Summary
Macquarie Geotechnical is a Geotechnical Consulting / Drilling & Construction Materials Testing company working on road rail and mining infrastructure projects throughout Australia. We maintain a fleet of modern drill rigs support equipment and tools that are at the forefront of the industry.
The Geotechnical Engineer is responsible for project management of geotechnical Investigations inclusive of the testing sampling and interpreting of soil and rock materials to produce geotechnical assessments and reports. You will also be required to work in a team environment alongside other employees.
We are currently seeking Geotechnical Engineers with 2-5 years experience to join our team.
Responsibilities include:
- Prepare and submit proposals as requested by Clients
- Project management and client liaison
- Engagement review and management of subcontractors including safety documentation
- To liaise with the Geotechnical Manager to schedule daily/weekly work requirements
- Undertake engineering test pits using hand augers backhoes & excavators
- Undertake supervision of drilling using 4wd & truck mounted drilling rigs
- Perform logging and sampling of soil & rock materials
- Undertake in-situ geotechnical testing such as dynamic cone penetrometer testing hand shearvane testing pocket penetrometer testing & plate load tests
- Complete and report proof roll inspections / stripping inspections / stability inspections
- Prepare geotechnical reports for review by the Geotechnical Manager and submission to the client
To be successful for the position youmust have the following experience:
- Tertiary qualification in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering/ Engineering Geology.
- Knowledge and experience using gINT and Holebase.
- Understanding of AS1726 requirements.
- Minimum 2 years site investigation experience.
- Ability to work within a team environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Numerical analytical and observation skills.
- Ability to problem solve.
- An interest in developing both technical and project management skills
- A current drivers licence.
- Multiple roles available.
- Ability to travel to Project site in Central NSW.
