Job Summary
Maintain Technology is sourcing an experienced finance functional specialist for a major Australian public-sector ERP and finance modernisation program. The program is retiring legacy systems and consolidating finance capability onto a modern enterprise platform. This role provides independent evidence-based finance input during the discovery and planning phase supporting system selection current-state assessment and the design of options for a consolidated future-state finance architecture.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Discovery & Current-State
- Facilitate finance discovery workshops with stakeholders
- Assess existing finance systems processes and pain points
- Document current-state and capability gaps
- Produce a discovery report and high-level architecture design
- Develop and present evidence-based solution options
- Align options with the enterprise finance architecture
- Support technology (product) selection with finance input
- Support systems integrator (SI) selection and evaluation
- Contribute finance requirements to procurement activities
- Core finance
- Loan management
- Expense management
- Assist with roadmap and consolidation planning
- Advise on sequencing within the broader program
- Help avoid investment in systems soon to be replaced
- Engage program finance and technology stakeholders
- Provide independent evidence-based advice
- Communicate options clearly to decision-makers
THE ROLE
The Finance Systems Specialist works alongside the program team to assist with technology selection and systems integrator (SI) selection assess existing finance systems and shape discovery and planning across core finance loan management and expense management. The role is hands-on and delivery-focused: facilitating workshops producing a discovery report and high-level architecture design and presenting solution options for consolidation with the departmental enterprise finance architecture.
Best suited to a mid-experience finance functional consultant who can operate independently translate business needs into clear system requirements and give pragmatic well-evidenced advice during a fast-moving discovery phase.

Required
- Finance systems / ERP functional experience (core finance)
- Discovery current-state assessment and requirements gathering
- Solution options analysis and high-level solution design
- Exposure to technology selection and SI / vendor selection
- Strong workshop facilitation and clear documentation
- Melbourne-based and able to work minimum 3 days/week on-site
- Public sector or government program experience
- Loan management and/or expense management exposure
- ERP modernisation migration or consolidation programs
- Familiarity with enterprise finance architecture
- Existing security clearance (viewed favourably; not required)
