BG Global is hiring a Mechanical - Fabricator for multinational meat/pork processing group with a high-performing facility in Australia. This is a hands-on role within a fast-paced processing environment where you will support stainless steel fabrication equipment breakdown response and planned maintenance activities to ensure production runs safely efficiently and in compliance with Australian food safety and workplace standards
Responsibilities:
-Read and interpret technical drawings blueprints and fabrication specifications
-Fabricate weld and assemble stainless steel (SS304/SS316) components used in meat processing lines
-Manufacture and modify equipment such as conveyors platforms handrails chutes and guards
-Perform high-quality TIG welding suitable for hygienic food-grade environments
-Grind and polish welds to meet sanitary design standards (smooth crevice-free finishes)
-Carry out repairs and maintenance on existing plant equipment to minimise downtim
-Work collaboratively with maintenance and production teams during breakdowns and planned shutdowns
-Ensure all work complies with Safe Work Australia guidelines and site safety procedures
-Adhere to food safety standards aligned with Food Standards Australia New Zealand and HACCP principles
-Maintain clean work areas in line with hygiene and contamination control requirements
-Complete job documentation maintenance records and safety reports accurately
Requirements
-Trade qualification in Engineering Fabrication (e.g. Certificate III in Engineering Fabrication Trade)
-35 years of fabrication experience preferably within meat food processing or FMCG environments
-Strong experience working with stainless steel in hygienic applications
-Proficiency in TIG welding (essential); MIG welding advantageous
-Ability to read and interpret detailed engineering drawings
-Understanding of food-grade fabrication standards and sanitary design
-Knowledge of workplace health & safety (WHS) regulations
-Physically fit and comfortable working in cold environments typical of pork processing plants
