Job Summary

We are a rapidly growing residential building company specialising in insurance repairs for over 20 years. With a strong reputation for quality workmanship customer service and industry expertise we are seeking an experienced Building Estimator/Supervisor based in Cairns to join our team.

This is a home-based role offering the flexibility to work from your own home office while managing insurance repair projects throughout Cairns and the surrounding Far North Queensland region. Youll remain closely connected with our wider team through regular communication support and collaboration.

We are looking for someone who can confidently step into the role so previous experience in a similar building estimating and/or supervision role is essential with residential insurance repair experience highly regarded.

About You

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Previous experience in a similar Building Estimator/Supervisor role essential
  • Experience in residential insurance repairs building repairs or renovations
  • Carpentry trade qualification or relevant construction industry experience
  • QBCC Site Supervisor licence or the ability to hold the appropriate licence
  • Strong understanding of the NCC QBCC requirements and trade compliance
  • Experience conducting property inspections and preparing detailed scopes reports and estimates
  • The ability to effectively manage and supervise multiple repair projects
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Confidence liaising with homeowners insurers loss adjusters and trades
  • The ability to work independently from a home office while remaining engaged with the wider team
  • A practical solutions-focused approach with strong attention to detail
  • A positive reliable and professional attitude
  • Current drivers licence with a good driving history
  • Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word Excel and Outlook
  • Willingness to complete a police history check prior to commencement
Key Responsibilities

Your role will include:

  • Conducting property inspections throughout Cairns and surrounding areas
  • Preparing detailed causation reports scopes of work and repair estimates
  • Estimating residential insurance building repairs and renovations
  • Coordinating and supervising repairs from approval through to completion
  • Managing trades and ensuring works are completed safely efficiently and to the required quality standards
  • Liaising with homeowners insurance companies loss adjusters and other stakeholders
  • Maintaining accurate job records reports and updates
  • Ensuring projects comply with relevant building legislation standards and company requirements
  • Managing your workload independently while working closely with our broader operations team
  • Travelling within the region and occasionally to other areas of Queensland where required

Manager
