The Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Engineering Manager to join our Mineral Technologies Engineering team within Downers Energy & Utilities business. Reporting to the GM Engineering & Projects this leadership role is responsible for developing and leading Mineral Technologies engineering capability ensuring engineering resources are effectively deployed and driving accountability performance and continuous improvement across the business.

As a key member of the Engineering & Projects Leadership Team you will contribute to strategic planning cultural development business growth initiatives and the successful delivery of studies and projects across a global footprint including Australia India Brazil USA Canada and South Africa.

Leading a team of approximately 8 direct reports and 5080 indirect reports you will work closely with project leaders discipline leads and key stakeholders to ensure safe efficient and high-quality engineering outcomes that support our growth ambitions and client commitments.

This is a pivotal leadership role for a collaborative and commercially minded engineering professional who is passionate about people operational excellence and driving innovation within the mineral processing industry.

• Lead and develop a high-performing engineering and design function fostering accountability capability growth and continuous improvement.
• Drive safe and successful project delivery by partnering with engineering project and operational leaders to optimise quality productivity resource utilisation and project outcomes.
• Provide visible leadership in Zero Harm ensuring the highest standards of safety environmental performance and incident management.
• Contribute to business growth through strategic planning proposal development client engagement industry networking and support of new business opportunities.

What Were Looking For

• Tertiary qualification in Engineering coupled with significant experience (15 years preferred) within mining minerals processing engineering consulting EPC/EPCM or project delivery environments.
• Demonstrated leadership experience managing multidisciplinary engineering teams and delivering complex studies and projects from feasibility through to execution.
• Strong understanding of mineral processing operations engineering systems project delivery methodologies and resource planning.
• Exceptional stakeholder engagement communication and influencing skills with the ability to build credibility across technical and non-technical audiences.
• Strategic mindset with a proven ability to drive business improvement lead change develop talent and contribute to business growth initiatives.
