We are looking for a calm reliable and experienced Disability Support Worker to provide high-quality person-centred support to a client living in Edmondson Park.
This role is particularly suited to someone with experience supporting people with physical disabilities mobility challenges and complex support needs. Experience supporting a person with autoimmune cerebellar ataxia and using a Pelican Belt will be highly regarded.
About the Role
As a Disability Support Worker you will provide respectful and consistent support tailored to the clients individual needs preferences and support plan.
Your responsibilities may include:
- Supporting a client living with physical disability and autoimmune cerebellar ataxia
- Providing personal care and assistance with daily living activities
- Supporting safe mobility transfers and movement around the home and community
- Using a Pelican Belt safely and appropriately where required
- Assisting with self-care and personal routines
- Meal preparation and light domestic tasks
- Supporting medication administration in accordance with the clients support plan and relevant procedures
- Following individual support plans risk assessments and care instructions
- Supporting safe manual handling and mobility practices
- Observing and reporting changes in the clients wellbeing or support needs
- Maintaining accurate and timely documentation
- Supporting the clients independence dignity choice and quality of life
- Building a positive and trusting relationship through calm consistent and respectful support
- Maintaining professional boundaries and confidentiality at all times
About the Client Support Needs
The successful Support Worker will ideally have an understanding of or experience with:
- Physical disabilities
- Autoimmune cerebellar ataxia
- Mobility and balance difficulties
- Safe transfers and mobility assistance
- Manual handling
- Personal care
- Use of mobility/support equipment
- Pelican Belt
Experience with cerebellar ataxia is highly desirable; however candidates with strong experience supporting people with physical disabilities and complex mobility needs may also be considered.

You are a compassionate and dependable Support Worker who:
- Is calm patient and observant
- Has experience supporting people with physical disabilities
- Is confident assisting with mobility and transfers
- Understands the importance of safe manual handling
- Can follow care plans routines and instructions accurately
- Has strong communication skills
- Demonstrates professional boundaries
- Is comfortable working independently in a clients home
- Is reliable and committed to providing consistent support
- Respects individual choice privacy dignity and independence
- Has a genuine passion for making a positive difference in someones everyday life
Essential Requirements
To be considered for this position you must have:
- NDIS Worker Screening Check
- Working With Children Check (WWCC)
- Valid Australian Drivers Licence
- Own reliable vehicle this is essential
- First Aid and CPR Certificate
- Certificate III or IV in Disability Individual Support Aged Care or a relevant qualification
- Previous experience in disability support aged care or a similar care environment
- Ability to work in accordance with individual support plans and safety procedures
- Australian working rights
