Director, Faculty Services
Job Summary
The Faculty Services division brings together the professional teams embedded across the Faculties and Schools to deliver outstanding support to our academic staff and students and works in close collaboration with our professional colleagues across the University.
As the Director Faculty Services you will be responsible for providing strategic and operational leadership across the Faculty Services division with a particular focus on the Faculty of Arts and Education and Deakins strategic objectives. Higher Education experience will benefit you in providing strategic insights into University operations and your ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders across the University to understand needs influence outcomes and support alignment will be critical.
This key leadership position forms part of the Faculty Services Directors Group led by the Executive Director Faculty Services and is a key member of the Faculty Executive Group.

- Based at our Geelong Waurn Ponds campus or Melbourne Burwood campus. Full-time and fixed term for 5 years.
As Director Faculty Services you will:
- Deliver strategic insight into Faculty operations while leading a significant function or portfolio
- Work across the University to provide direction and leadership of the professional services required to support the faculty to deliver its strategic and operational outcomes in teaching research and partnerships
- Oversee financial operational and people resources within the portfolio ensuring they are used responsibly and aligned with priorities
- Build strong relationships with stakeholders across the university to understand needs shape outcomes and drive alignment
- Drive a collaborative and effective professional leadership team that positively impacts professional staff and delivers a culture that is aligned with Deakin Values and Faculty/Faculty Services goals
To be successful youll have:
- Qualifications and experience commensurate with a Director level appointment within a large complex organisation
- Demonstrated strong stakeholder engagement and influencing capability across diverse groups
- Proven ability to exercise judgement influence and collaborate with others be flexible and adaptive to environmental changes and priorities and gain support for new plans programs or initiatives
- Demonstrated capacity for analytical and conceptual thought in the diagnosis of problems and in providing innovative timely relevant and practical solutions
- Demonstrated ability to establish governance and manage risk within a complex environment
