Role Overview
The Data Architect will lead the design and governance of the Enterprise Data Platform (EDP) architecture ensuring data is structured integrated secured and managed to support operational analytics reporting and future advanced capabilities. The role will work closely with the Assistant Director Data Solutions System Integrator ICT security data governance teams and business stakeholders to translate approved requirements into implementation-ready data architecture.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and deliver target data architecture for the EDP including scalable and secure design patterns aligned with Azure Databricks best practices
- Design conformed dimensions canonical data models and surrogate key strategies across priority datasets
- Develop fact and event models to support reporting analytics and point-in-time insights
- Establish bronze silver and gold data layer standards (medallion architecture)
- Produce implementation-ready dataset packs including source profiling mappings transformation logic data quality rules and acceptance criteria
- Define cross-dataset integration patterns entity relationships and inputs/outputs for entity resolution
- Design secure data access models including RBAC data masking audit logging and compliance controls
- Review and assure System Integrator designs build artefacts and release outputs
- Establish architecture guardrails covering Dev/Test/Prod environments CI/CD modular pipelines and schema evolution
- Support migration of legacy reporting workflows and dashboards into the EDP
- Ensure architecture artefacts support sustainable operations transition and handover to internal teams
- Provide technical leadership and stakeholder engagement across business ICT and governance teams
Requirements
Essential Criteria
- Demonstrated experience designing enterprise data architectures on cloud platforms preferably Azure Databricks
- Strong expertise in dimensional modelling conformed dimensions and canonical data design
- Experience delivering medallion architectures data pipelines and data quality frameworks
- Knowledge of secure data platform design (RBAC SSO concepts masking audit lineage retention)
- Proven experience reviewing and governing third-party delivery artefacts
- Understanding of DevOps practices including CI/CD Git-based version control and modular pipeline design
- Ability to translate business requirements into implementation-ready data architecture
- Strong stakeholder engagement and technical communication skills
- Ability to produce high-quality architecture artefacts and documentation
Desirable Skills
- Experience in regulated law enforcement or high-sensitivity data environments
- Experience with entity resolution network analysis or graph-based modelling
- Familiarity with controlled datasets (MoUs statutory data controls)
- Experience migrating legacy analytics and reporting into governed platforms
- Experience supporting knowledge transfer and capability uplift
Working Arrangements
