Whats the role
You will be responsible for building the identity reputation and community of the Data & AI profession at Westpac. As the Community & Engagement Lead you will create a connected and engaged practitioner community that practitioners are proud to belong to strengthening collaboration capability growth and professional identity across autonomous Delivery Units. You will lead the Practices engagement strategy communications events and practitioner experience ensuring Data & AI professionals feel connected to a broader community and shared purpose. You will also shape Westpacs external reputation in Data & AI building relationships across industry universities vendors and peer organisations to position the bank as a recognised leader in Data & AI capability and an employer of choice for exceptional talent. Success in this role will be measured not by communications delivered or events held but by the strength of the practitioner community workforce engagement talent outcomes and Westpacs reputation as a destination for Data & AI talent.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design and deliver the Data and AI community operating model including town halls showcases and communities of practice.
- Position Westpac as a leading destination for Data & AI talent through industry engagement thought leadership and external partnerships.
- Establish flagship practitioner events recognition programs and showcases that celebrate excellence and strengthen community identity.
- Build and manage relationships with external stakeholders including vendors peer organisations industry communities conferences and Responsible AI forums.
- Measure community health practitioner engagement and external brand impact using insights to continuously improve the practitioner experience.
- Partner with workforce and capability teams to support talent attraction employer branding and community-building initiatives.
- Collaborate with delivery and adoption stakeholders to create and deliver communications and showcases that promote the impact and value of Data and AI initiatives.
- Foster a connected inclusive and engaged Data and AI community that encourages collaboration knowledge sharing and continuous learning.
What do I need
To be successful in this position you will need to have experience designing and delivering community operating models at an enterprise scale and have strong internal communications and channel management expertise including the ability to create engaging communication strategies and content. Experience building and managing external engagement programmes including industry communities vendor relationships and employer brand initiatives is essential for this role too.
Other key skills and experience required include:
- Experience building professional communities capability networks or practitioner ecosystems at enterprise scale.
- Experience in building and managing external engagement programmes including industry communities vendor relationships and employer brand initiatives.
- Strong capability in designing surveys feedback loops and engagement mechanisms with the ability to interpret qualitative insights and drive continuous improvement.
- Excellent storytelling communication and presentation skills with the ability to engage senior leaders technical audiences and external stakeholders.
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills with the ability to build trusted relationships across diverse groups.
- Experience planning and delivering community events showcases forums and engagement programmes.
- Strong organisational and programme management skills with experience coordinating multiple engagement initiatives and communication channels.
