Commis Chef

As a Commis Chef you will work closely with the kitchen team across food preparation and busy à la carte service.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Preparing cooking and plating dishes to a consistent standard
• Managing your own section confidently during service
• Supporting mise en place and daily food preparation
• Maintaining high standards of food quality and presentation
• Working efficiently during busy service periods
• Following food safety hygiene and kitchen cleanliness requirements
• Assisting with stock rotation storage and waste minimisation
• Working collaboratively with the wider kitchen and restaurant team

This is a casual position offering approximately 3038 hours per week with most shifts falling across evenings and weekends.

The position is paid at Grade 3 casual rates in accordance with the applicable Hospitality Award.

Qualifications :

To be successful in this role you will ideally have:

• Previous experience working as a chef in a busy restaurant pub or hotel kitchen
• Strong cooking preparation and plating skills
• Confidence running a section independently during service
• The ability to work quickly under pressure while maintaining quality and consistency
• Strong organisation and time-management skills
• Good knowledge of food safety and kitchen hygiene practices
• A reliable professional and team-focused approach
• Flexibility to work evenings weekends and public holidays as required
• Strong and contactable professional references

A formal cookery qualification is advantageous however strong practical kitchen experience and capability will be highly regarded.
