Commercial Landscape Project Manager
Job Summary
Youll be joining an established landscape contractor delivering commercial landscape projects across Queensland with responsibility for the program budget contracts clients and overall project delivery.
This isnt a purely office-based Project Manager role. Your practical understanding of how landscape projects are actually built will be important. Youll work closely with Site Managers Supervisors and subcontractors providing the commercial leadership and technical direction needed to keep projects moving.
The role requires strong commercial and contract administration capability combined with practical knowledge across both hard and soft landscape construction.

As Commercial Landscape Project Manager youll take responsibility for the planning execution and successful delivery of landscape construction projects.
Youll manage projects to ensure they are delivered on time within budget and to the required quality standard while maintaining strong relationships with clients subcontractors and your internal project teams.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Developing project programs budgets and procurement schedules
- Planning labour plant equipment and subcontractor requirements
- Managing project costs and protecting project margins
- Monitoring construction progress against program
- Managing subcontractors and suppliers
- Contract administration including RFIs EOTs and variations
- Preparing and managing progress claims
- Identifying commercial and project risks early
- Managing client relationships and expectations
- Leading project and progress meetings
- Coordinating with Site Managers and Supervisors
- Maintaining accurate project reporting and documentation
- Managing quality safety and compliance requirements
- Taking projects through to successful handover
Youll Know How the Work Is Built
This is an important part of the role.
Were not looking for someone who manages projects purely from a spreadsheet.
Youll need a sound practical understanding of commercial landscape construction and be comfortable providing technical direction to site teams and subcontractors.
Your knowledge should extend across areas such as:
- Paving
- Concrete formwork and placement
- Retaining walls
- Blockwork
- Fencing
- Irrigation and drainage
- Setout levels and falls
- Soil preparation
- Planting
- Turf establishment
- Construction sequencing and methodology
Commercial & Contract Management
Alongside the construction knowledge youll need to be commercially capable.
Youll be responsible for monitoring project costs against approved budgets forecasting reviewing subcontractor and supplier costs and identifying opportunities to protect project margins.
Youll also manage:
- RFIs
- Extension of Time submissions
- Variation claims
- Progress claims
- Contractual correspondence
- Delays and program risks
- Project records and reporting
Were looking for someone with:
- Strong commercial landscape or civil construction experience
- Practical knowledge across hard and soft landscaping
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Strong project planning and programming skills
- Budget and cost-management experience
- Contract administration experience
- Experience with RFIs EOTs and variation claims
- Strong client and stakeholder management skills
- Experience managing subcontractors and site-based teams
- Sound understanding of SWMS quality and construction compliance
- Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently
- Strong communication leadership and problem-solving skills
Experience delivering landscape construction projects in Queensland including exposure to TMR specifications would also be advantageous but isnt essential.

Required Skills:
About You Youll ideally have at least five years Project Management experience within commercial landscaping or civil construction along with the technical understanding to confidently work with experienced construction teams. Were looking for someone with: Strong commercial landscape or civil construction experience Practical knowledge across hard and soft landscaping Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications Strong project planning and programming skills Budget and cost-management experience Contract administration experience Experience with RFIs EOTs and variation claims Strong client and stakeholder management skills Experience managing subcontractors and site-based teams Sound understanding of SWMS quality and construction compliance Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently Strong communication leadership and problem-solving skills A qualification in Landscape Construction Horticulture Construction Management Project Management or a related discipline would be highly regarded. Experience delivering landscape construction projects in Queensland including exposure to TMR specifications would also be advantageous but isnt essential.
