About Carers NT

Carers NT is a not-for-profit community-based organisation and charity dedicated to improving the lives of family carers living in the NT.

We are recruiting for the newly established role of Clinical Governance Manager .

The Clinical Governance Manager is a senior leadership role responsible for the oversight integrity and continuous improvement of clinical governance across Carers NT Ltds Aged Care and NDIS Disability Services. This senior role oversees clinical policies audits risk management and staff education to improve clinical outcomes and maintain regulatory compliance.

Inaddition to maintaining compliance with the Strengthened Aged Care Quality Standards and NDIS Practice Standards the role has a strategic mandate to lead and drive a culture of clinical compliance and quality to support Carers NT readiness for the expansion of its Aged Care provider registration to include Category 5 services.

This transition will support the development governance and delivery of regulated nursing care services to internal Carers NT clients and approved external client groups enabling CarersNT to expand its clinical capability while maintaining the highest standards of safety quality and accountability.

The role reports directly to the Deputy CEO and works closely with the Senior Executive Team Quality & Compliance team and operational leaders to ensure Carers NTs clinical servicesare safe evidence-based scalable culturally appropriate applied consistently and fit-for-purpose across metropolitan regional and remote Northern Territory settings.

Key Responsibilities

1 Clinical Governance & Quality Assurance

Lead and maintain a robust organisation-wide Clinical Governance Framework aligned to:

    The new Aged Care Act and Strengthened Aged Care Quality Standards

    NDIS Practice Standards and Quality Indicators

    Contemporary evidence-based clinical practice

    Provide high-level oversight of clinical quality safety and care outcomes across all service clinical governance arrangements appropriately reflect the unique risks and complexities of remote and regional service delivery in the Northern Territory.

    2 Regulatory Compliance & Assurance

    Act as a key clinical authority in preparing for responding to and managing:

    Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission audits

    NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission audits

    External reviews investigations and accreditation processes

    Translate regulatory and legislative requirements into practical operational policies procedures and clinical guidance.

    Provide clinical risk advice and assurance reporting to the Deputy CEO and Executive Leadership Team. Partners closely with the Quality and Compliance Lead and Governance Officer to embed clinical requirements into corporate quality systems.

    3 Clinical Risk Management & Continuous Improvement

    Provide strategic oversight of clinical components of the Quality Management System including:Incident management and clinical incidentsquality improvement initiatives /Projects

    Complaints and feedback

    Clinical risk registers

    Continuous improvement actions

    Analyse trends outcomes and quality indicators to identify risks gaps and opportunities for or contribute to root cause analyses and remediation planning for serious clinical incidents.

    4 Clinical Policy Practice & Capability

    Lead the development review and implementation of clinical policies procedures and resources to support best practice care delivery.

    Ensure policies are current evidence-based culturally informed and fit-for-purpose across both aged care and disability services.

    Monitor clinical documentation and care planning ensuring all services meet legal and industry standards.

    Support clinical capability development through guidance mentoring education and practice improvement initiatives in collaboration with operational leaders.

    Partner with Clinical Managers and Team Leaders to ensure that staff are trained to deliver services in accordance with policy safe quality and evidence-based practice and competency.

    5 Leadership & Collaboration

    Work collaboratively with:

    Clinical leaders and frontline teams

    Quality & Compliance professionals

    Operations and workforce team

    Influence and support a positive culture of clinical accountability safety learning and improvement Provide expert clinical input into organisational strategy service design and reform implementation.

    6 Responsible Person Obligations

    Act (or be willing to act) as a Responsible Person under relevant aged care and disability legislation.

    Provide executive-level assurance regarding the delivery and oversight of clinical and nursing services at Carers NT

What we are looking for

The successful candidate will beswitched on and able to jump right in. There is a significant amount of interaction with key stakeholders across the business so strong and clear communication is a must. Other key requirements for the successful individual include

    Tertiary qualification in Nursing.

    Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse with no restrictions.

    Minimum five (5) years experience in clinical governance clinical quality orsenior clinical management within the aged care sector. Demonstrated understanding of:

    The new Aged Care Act and Strengthened Aged Care Quality Standards

    Contemporary clinical governance principles

    Quality and safety systems in regulated care environments

    Proven leadership experience with the ability to influence practice without direct line management.

    Demonstrated experience working with Quality Management Systems including:

    Incident and complaints management

    Continuous improvement systems

    Quality indicators and internal audits

    Document control systems

    Strong analytical and reporting capability including the ability to interpretdata and provide actionable insights to senior leaders.

    High level of digital literacy including Microsoft Office and clinical documentation systems
