What you will be doing in this role
This is a rare opportunity to shape the future of digital healthcare within one of Australias leading private hospitals. As Chief Digital Officer you will lead the strategic direction governance and delivery of AHCLs enterprise-wide digital portfolio ensuring technology enables exceptional patient care outstanding clinician experience and long-term organisational success. AHCL has already established a strong digital foundation including SanCare our in-house developed best-in-class Electronic Medical Record (EMR) providing an excellent platform from which to shape the next generation of digital transformation.

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) you will be a trusted adviser to the CEO Board and Executive team providing strategic leadership across digital transformation clinical informatics cybersecurity data and AI. You will lead a high-performing Digital Health team driving a contemporary digital strategy that strengthens Sydney Adventist Hospitals reputation as a leader in innovation clinical excellence and whole-person care in an increasingly digital healthcare environment.

Who we are looking for

We are seeking a values-led digital executive who has successfully led enterprise-wide digital transformation within a complex healthcare environment.

This is not a traditional technology leadership role. We are looking for an Executive who views digital as a strategic enabler of healthcare transformation using technology data and innovation to improve patient care clinician experience and organisational performance rather than simply delivering technology services.

You may currently be or have previously been a Chief Digital Officer Chief Clinical Information Officer Chief Information Officer Chief Technology Officer Chief Innovation Officer or hold a similar Executive leadership role responsible for digital strategy transformation and innovation.

We are only interested in executives from acute care hospitals (private or public) or the health insurance sector who understand how digital capability can transform patient care clinician experience and organisational we appreciate the breadth of digital leadership experience across many industries candidates without acute hospital digital healthcare experience are unlikely to have the background required for this Executive appointment.

• Demonstrated Executive leadership of a digital transformation clinical informatics or information management function within a complex acute care hospital (private or public) or health insurance organisation is essential.
• Extensive experience developing and delivering enterprise-wide digital strategy transformation programmes and technology investment roadmaps.
• Experience leading one or more major digital initiatives such as EMR optimisation clinical informatics digital strategy consumer digital experience cybersecurity data and AI transformation or cloud transformation.
• Proven capability partnering with Boards CEOs and Executive teams to influence strategic direction governance and organisational performance.
• Strong knowledge of clinical informatics digital health data governance analytics and the responsible adoption of AI within an acute healthcare environment.
• Demonstrated experience leading cybersecurity governance digital risk management and regulatory compliance.
• Commercial acumen with experience developing business cases managing significant digital investment portfolios and delivering measurable organisational outcomes.
• An authentic collaborative leadership style with the ability to build high-performing multidisciplinary teams influence diverse stakeholders and inspire innovation.
• Relevant postgraduate qualifications in Health Informatics Information Technology Business Administration Health Sciences or a related discipline. An MBA MHM or equivalent postgraduate qualification will be highly regarded.
• Unrestricted eligibility to work legally in Australia as visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
