• Casual employment opportunity based at Vaucluse working in various National Parks across Sydney Harbour and Greater Sydney.
• Casual rates apply relative to experience ($41 to $43 per hour) plus relevant weekend/Public Holiday loadings employers contribution to superannuation and casual loading.

About the role
National Parks and Wildlife Service has a unique opportunity for a Discovery Guide to work as part of a high performing team and contribute towards the conservation of the natural environment flora fauna history and heritage of our parks and reserves.

As a Discovery Guide you will help connect visitors to NSW national parks through engaging guided leisure and educational school tours presentations and activities. You will inspire people of all ages to learn about and appreciate our unique environments history and conservation efforts while delivering memorable visitor experiences.

Working as part of the National Parks and Wildlife Service you will lead tours support community education programs and contribute to the delivery of high-quality interpretation services. You will also assist with; interpretive materials and administrative tasks associated with tour delivery.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys public engagement storytelling education and sharing their passion for nature history and conservation with diverse audiences.

About You
We are looking for an enthusiastic and customer-focused individual who is passionate about sharing the stories of our national parks natural environments and heritage. You will enjoy engaging with people from diverse backgrounds and be confident delivering guided tours presentations and educational experiences that inspire visitors to connect with and appreciate NSWs unique landscapes and history.

The ideal candidate will have strong demonstrated experience in education guiding or public engagement along with strong communication skills and a commitment to providing high-quality visitor experiences. An interest in nature conservation local history will be highly valued.

You will be a positive team player who can adapt to different audiences work independently when required and contribute to creating safe informative and memorable experiences for park visitors.

Candidates with a current and valid Australian drivers licence will be highly regarded. The role involves travel to various work locations and the delivery of guided activities and education programs across the region making the ability to drive an important advantage.

Essential requirements

• Availability to work weekdays weekends school and public holidays based on roster requirements with also a minimum provision of 5 weekday availability per month.
• A current Working with Children Check (WWCC) is an essential requirement for this role. The role has been identified as requiring this check in line with the Child Protection (WorkingwithChildren) Act 2012.
• Senior First Aid certificate or willingness to obtain one.
