Your opportunity

Join Mission Australias Inner City Services team and support men experiencing homelessness to maintain stable accommodation and improve their wellbeing.

Based at our supported accommodation service in Spring Hill you will work alongside a dedicated team providing practical support and tenancy sustainment assistance to residents. The service operates 24 hours a day 7 days a week and provides accommodation and support to men who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness.

As a Case Worker you will build strong relationships with residents respond to day-to-day support needs assist with referrals and service connections and help create a safe and respectful living environment. Working closely with internal teams and external support services youll play an important role in supporting residents to sustain their tenancy improve their wellbeing and work towards their individual goals.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys frontline community services work demonstrates strong professional boundaries communicates effectively with people experiencing complex challenges and can confidently respond to situations requiring empathy de-escalation and sound judgement.

Your key responsibilities will be to

  • Provide person-centred support to residents within a supported accommodation environment.

  • Build positive and professional relationships that encourage engagement and independence.

  • Support residents to maintain their tenancy and connect with appropriate services and supports.

  • Assist with assessments referrals case planning and service coordination activities.

  • Respond appropriately to incidents resident concerns and wellbeing needs.

  • Support residents experiencing mental health challenges crisis situations or other complex needs.

  • Maintain accurate case notes reports and client records.

  • Collaborate with internal teams external services and community stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes.

  • Contribute to a safe respectful and supportive living environment for residents.

Requirements for success

  • Relevant qualification in Community Services Human Services Social Work or a related field or equivalent experience.

  • Experience supporting people experiencing homelessness mental ill-health trauma alcohol and other drug concerns or other complex support needs.

  • Demonstrated ability to build rapport and maintain professional relationships with vulnerable clients.

  • Strong communication and conflict resolution skills including the ability to de-escalate challenging situations.

  • Understanding of trauma-informed recovery-oriented and person-centred practice.

  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and with external service providers.

  • Sound administration reporting and record-keeping skills.

  • Current First Aid Certificate

  • Current Driver Licence with no restrictions

Before starting work with us you will need to undertake a national police history check qualifications and referee checks and have a clearance to work with children/vulnerable people.
