Whats the role
In this permanent Perth-based role youll be responsible for managing and growing a portfolio of customers across the mining and mining services sectors working with organisations operating in commodities such as gold rare earths lithium and base metals.
Youll become a trusted adviser to your clients developing a deep understanding of their business strategic priorities and market dynamics to deliver tailored banking solutions. Working as part of Westpacs Mining & Metals team youll build and strengthen relationships with senior decision-makers including CEOs CFOs and treasury teams while identifying opportunities to support both existing and new customers.
Youll collaborate with specialists across lending debt products financial markets sustainability and risk to bring the right expertise and solutions to each client conversation. This role offers the opportunity to be at the centre of one of Australias most important industries supporting businesses through growth investment decisions operational challenges and changing market conditions.
Alongside managing client relationships youll contribute to Westpacs broader sector strategy leveraging your industry knowledge and customer insights to deepen engagement originate new opportunities and help deliver sustainable growth across the resources portfolio. Youll combine strong commercial acumen with sound risk management balancing customer outcomes with responsible banking practices while delivering the full breadth of Westpacs institutional banking capabilities.
What do I need
Youll bring a genuine interest in the resources sector and enjoy building long-term relationships with customers and colleagues.
- Previous experience managing a portfolio of customers within mining natural resources mining services energy or a related sector.
- Strong understanding of commodity markets particularly across gold rare earths lithium base metals or broader resources industries.
- Ability to build trusted relationships and influence senior stakeholders including executive-level clients.
- Sound commercial acumen with the ability to assess opportunities analyse complex information and apply a risk-aware mindset.
- Knowledge of corporate banking products lending structures and financial solutions used by large business customers.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across teams to deliver customer outcomes.
