Duration: Approx. 12 months labour hire with potential to extend
Pay rate: $67.24 - $76.36 per hour plus superannuation
Security requirements: Ability to obtain/maintain minimum Baseline security clearance
Overview
An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced APS6 Finance Officer / Finance Business Partner to join a Federal Government department in Canberra or Brisbane.
Working within a busy finance environment you will provide high-quality financial advice reporting and analysis while supporting effective financial and project management. The successful candidate will bring strong technical accounting knowledge excellent stakeholder management skills and demonstrated experience within a public sector finance environment.
Responsibilities:
- Provide financial business partnering support and high-quality financial advice to stakeholders.
- Prepare budgets forecasts financial analysis and management reports.
- Undertake project accounting and financial project management activities ideally supporting IT projects.
- Ensure financial activities are undertaken in accordance with the Commonwealth financial framework and relevant accounting standards.
- Analyse financial information and provide meaningful insights to support business decisions.
- Build effective relationships with senior stakeholders and communicate complex financial information clearly.
- Support management accounting functions and broader financial reporting requirements.
- Manage competing priorities and deliver quality outcomes within tight timeframes.
- Contribute positively to a collaborative and fast-paced team environment.
Experience/requirements:
- Formal qualifications in accounting finance or business or demonstrated experience in public sector financial management or a similar financial management role.
- Demonstrated experience as a Finance Business Partner or in financial and management reporting.
- Strong project accounting experience with experience supporting IT projects and/or working within the public sector highly regarded.
- Strong technical accounting knowledge and understanding of accounting principles.
- Experience with budgeting forecasting and financial analysis.
- Knowledge and experience working within the Commonwealth financial framework and relevant accounting standards.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to provide quality financial advice and influence senior stakeholders.
- Excellent stakeholder management and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to deliver results within tight timeframes.
- CA or CPA qualification or currently studying towards one is highly regarded.
- Previous public sector finance business partnering experience is highly regarded.
