Job Summary


  • ACT Government.

  • 12-month contract with 2 x 12-month extension options.

  • Hybrid working arrangement with remote/WFH flexibility.

Our client is an ACT Government department seeking a Lead Microservices & AI Technical Architect to join their team in Canberra ACT.

Role Summary

This role will provide technical leadership across cloud-native microservices event-driven and AI-enabled platforms. The successful candidate will influence architecture and engineering decisions drive technology modernisation establish modern engineering practices and support the adoption of AI across the software delivery lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical leadership and architectural direction for cloud-native microservices event-driven and AI-enabled platforms.
  • Lead the adoption of modern engineering practices including DevSecOps CI/CD automated testing observability and platform engineering.
  • Drive technology modernisation containerisation enterprise integration and reusable architecture patterns.
  • Lead multidisciplinary technical teams and support engineering capability uplift through knowledge transfer and governance.
  • Engage with senior stakeholders and delivery partners to translate complex business requirements into practical technology outcomes.
Essential Criteria
  • Extensive experience designing and governing cloud-native microservices and event-driven architectures within complex enterprise environments.
  • Demonstrated expertise in AI engineering and AI-enabled solution delivery including enterprise AI capabilities semantic search and responsible AI practices.
  • Strong software and platform engineering capability including DevSecOps CI/CD automated testing observability and security by design.
  • Proven experience leading technology modernisation and transformation initiatives and influencing enterprise architecture decisions.
  • Exceptional stakeholder engagement communication and leadership skills including experience leading multidisciplinary teams and engaging senior executives.

  • Kubernetes OpenShift AKS EKS or GKE

  • Azure cloud platform

  • Platform engineering and SRE

  • Observability and enterprise-scale automation

  • Agile delivery and geographically distributed teams

  • AI/ML engineering and operationalisation
