Technical Manager

Job Description

We are seeking a Technical Manager to lead engineering and technical coordination for the Terminal 6 Substructure Works package at King Salman International Airport (KSIA) Riyadh. This build-only contract encompasses reinforced concrete substructure works precast concrete elements movement and contraction joints and full waterproofing systems all of which require rigorous technical oversight to ensure designs method statements and site execution remain fully aligned throughout delivery. You will review and coordinate structural and civil designs for substructure elements resolve technical queries raised on site manage the RFI process with the Engineer and design team and develop and approve method statements and temporary works submittals ahead of construction activities. A significant part of the role involves overseeing the design and detailing of movement and contraction joints and waterproofing systems across basement walls slabs and other substructure elements ensuring long-term performance and compliance with specification. You will also support constructability reviews and value engineering initiatives providing technical leadership to the site team when non-standard or complex details arise during construction. Working closely with the Project Manager Construction Manager and QA/QC team you will ensure technical decisions are made promptly to avoid delays to the fast-track programme. This role is well suited to a senior engineering professional with deep substructure and waterproofing expertise strong stakeholder management skills and prior experience delivering technically complex civil works on major aviation or infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and coordinate structural/civil designs for substructure elements including precast components
• Develop and approve method statements temporary works and technical submittals
• Resolve technical queries coordinate with the Engineer/design team and manage RFIs
• Oversee movement/contraction joint design and waterproofing detailing
• Support value engineering and constructability reviews
• Provide technical leadership to the site team on complex or non-standard details

Requirements

• Minimum 20 years experience in a technical/engineering management role on major building or infrastructure projects
• Strong background in RC substructure design and construction precast elements and waterproofing systems
• Airport or large mega-project experience preferred
• Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering (Chartered status an advantage)
