The National Board of Examiners in Optometry (NBEO) is seeking an Full Stack Developer to assist the organization. Founded in 1951, the National Board of Examiners in Optometry is an independent, non-governmental, non-profit organization whose examinations are universally accepted for optometric licensure in the United States and internationally. NBEO’s mission is to protect the public by developing, administering, scoring, and reporting results of examinations that assess competence in optometry. NBEO has a full-time staff of 28 and utilizes over 100 optometrists as subject matter experts nationwide in support of its examination programs. NBEO is one of the few national boards in any profession with a repertoire of exams that include computer-based tests, an advanced competence exam, and clinical examinations using standardized patients at the National Center of Clinical Testing in Optometry (NCCTO). This role is a full-time, onsite position based in Charlotte, NC. Reporting to the Associate Director of IT Projects the Full Stack Developer is responsible for ensuring that the organization’s financial records are accurate and complete. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: * Develop and maintain web applications using Python, React, and MongoDB. * Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features. * Ensure the performance, quality, and responsiveness of applications. * Write effective APIs. * Write technical documentation. * Collaborate and work with our external development team. * Identify and correct bottlenecks and fix bugs. * Conduct thorough QA and regression testing to ensure application stability and performance after updates and new feature implementations. * Work closely with an external vendors to develop internal documentation for ongoing support and maintenance of software products. * Help maintain code quality, organization, and automation. * Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to peers. * Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends. * Conceptualize long-term development needs for the organization. * Assist with migrating features from legacy software set using .NET and Microsoft SQL Server. * Assist with helpdesk tickets as needed. Qualifications: * 5+ years of demonstrated work experience as a developer; bachelor’s degree is preferred. * Proven experience as a Full Stack Developer or similar role. * Strong proficiency in Python, React, and SQL. * Experience with web development technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript). * Familiarity with front-end frameworks and libraries. * Knowledge of database design and management. * Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. * Ability to work independently and as part of a team. * Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with team members. * Experience with Coldfusion, C#, ASP.NET, MVC, SQL Server, and Javascript are all a plus.
