Our Client in Welland Ontario is looking for a Production Supervisor to join their steel making production team!
Responsibilities:
- Supervises, directs, coordinates and assists the Melt Shop personnel to meet production targets and ensures quality standards and specifications are
- Oversees the operation of the melt and works closely with other departments to accommodate the melting schedule and to minimize any
- Operates on-the floor to maintain a proper melt rate, monitors chemistry and makes adjustments to the operation as
- Maintains strong knowledge of the melting work instructions, melting process, and pouring
- Ensures melting procedures are followed to achieve various grades of steel and results are in accordance with quality and order Works closely with Quality to troubleshoot heat chemistries that do not meet required
- Prioritizes melting workload based on production schedule and equipment
- Schedules staff, monitors and provides appropriate feedback on progress and quality of work Follows-up on progress and Responsible for ensuring current employees and new hires are properly trained in job duties, safety procedures and company
- Reviews employee punches and approves hours worked in Time and Attendance
- Supervises and coordinates activities of outside contractors as
- Responsible for checking supply and material inventory to ensure that no shortages occur which would result in production
- Ensures compliance with all legislated and company safety policies and
- Responsible for ensuring work is performed safely and without undue Conducts routine safety checks, maintains ongoing dialogue with employees on safety, investigates accidents, and maintains housekeeping
- Cooperates with other Supervisors, team members and departments to maintain efficiency of
- Completes all other duties as
Requirements
Qualifications:
- The successful candidate will possess a Secondary Diploma or
- Must have Supervisory experience in a heavy manufacturing environment, preferably in a steel
- Experience and working knowledge of the steelmaking operations including melting, refining, and casting of specialty
- Must be willing and able to work a variety of shifts, including
- Proven ability to manage and measure work, prioritize tasks and adjust to the changing needs of a fast-paced manufacturing Must possess the ability to direct and plan the work of hourly
- Detailed-orientated in all areas of work with excellent organizational and documentation
- Exhibits strong interpersonal skills, solid computer skills and written and verbal communication
- Supportive team player with a strong drive to create a positive work
