- responsibility to administer first-aid treatment and life-support care to sick or injured persons in a pre-hospital setting.
- responsibility to know how to operate equipment such as EKGs, external defibrillators and bag-valve-mask resuscitators in advanced life-support environments.
- responsibility to know how to assess the nature and extent of illness or injury to establish and prioritize medical procedures.
- responsibility to know how to maintain the medical and communication equipment and replenish first-aid equipment and supplies.
- responsibility to know how to observe, record, and report to physician the patient's condition or injury, the treatment provided, and reactions to drugs and treatment.
- responsibility to know how to perform emergency diagnostic and treatment procedures, such as stomach suction, airway management, and heart monitoring, during the ambulance ride.
- responsibility to check the ambulances and their medical contents on a daily basis and document the signature of the form prepared for that.
