The Role
The Middle East team produce stories that are distinctive relevant and impactful with a strong focus on ensuring those stories are told across multiple platforms working in collaboration with ABC programs to ensure our storytelling is relevant and connects with the community.
The ABC is looking for a Middle East Correspondent. We are seeking an experienced and creative journalist who provides impactful original trusted and innovative content to bolster our coverage from the Middle East.
The Job
- Engage with the Middle East bureau team generate stories that meet the ABCs Audience First News strategy with a focus on digital content.
- Deliver content that is timely accurate engaging and reflects the diversity of Australian audiences.
- Consistently demonstrate first-rate journalistic skills including excellent presentation live crosses strong writing skills and an understanding of the technology to deliver high quality story telling.
- Plan and carry out difficult assignments in an organised safe manner for the Middle East bureau team.
- Work in a collegiate manner with the Middle East bureau and International News team in Australia.

About You
Youll have:
- A proven track record of delivering highly advanced impactful journalism with storytelling that adds value to the conversation.
- An in-depth knowledge of and interest in the region both politically and culturally showing the regions past and future. Language skills will be an advantage.
- Highly advanced ability to deliver timely and engaging journalism for digital platforms that reports and analyses news trends and issues.
- Demonstrated ability to file multiplatform with breaking stories including blog contributions.
- Demonstrated ability to file for current affairs programs including 7.30 and Foreign Correspondent.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications or demonstrated equivalent skills knowledge and experience.
