The Material Engineer is responsible in ensuring that all materials used in the project is compliant with the project specifications and approved by all relevant authorities as bound necessary.
Job Duties
- Review and approval of the Contractors proposed materials and method statements as delegated by the Resident Engineer.
- General oversight of the Contractors daily activities including works assignments on-site performance and guidance on the supervision of the Contractors operations.
- Attend factory visits suppliers plant inspection as required
- Follow up testing (Laboratoty witness) and approvals from the relevant authorities
- Review of Contractors testing requests and subsequent completed reports.
- Review and Approval of the Contractors Submissions as delegated by the Resident Engineer.
- Monitoring the performance of the material delivery and accuracy of materials used at site
- Coordination with Contractors Quality personnel regarding schedule sequence and method of work.
- Monitoring conformance with the Contractors schedule.
- Continuous Field Inspections of the work in the progress and consultation with both the Resident Engineers and Contractors supervisory staff.
- Preparation of written and oral reports to the Resident Engineer on contractual and procedural matters.
- Assist Assistant Resident Engineer and Resident Engineer in the preparation of any correspondence in compliance with the contract documents.
- Where site problems are found work with the Resident Engineer or Assistant Resident Engineer to resolve them promptly.
- Maintain records of materials tests performed and executed works.
- Audit inspections for conformity to contract documents and contractor submitted plans.
- Issue Non Conformance Report (NCR) if material workmanship found unsatisfactory
Qualifications :
Qualification
- Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field
- Proficiency with computer-aided design (CAD) software
Specific Skills Required
- Well experienced in the construction of bridge structures earthworks and road works.
- Experience in working on infrastructure projects on civil engineering elements
- Proven work experience as a Material Engineer or similar role
- Should have knowledge of design mixes for concrete and asphalt
- High level of critical thinking skills.
- High level of numerical skills.
- Strong English communication skills.
- Must have ability to utilise computer technology to access data maintain records generate reports etc.

- Excellent communication teamwork and leadership skills.
- Establish and maintain effective work relationships within AECOM team clients contractors vendors other agencies and the public.
- Manage project workload and communication across divisions and/or department lines within AECOM.

Experience
- Minimum of 12 years experience in Highways & bridges project is required candidate must have experience in construction or construction supervision with similar job duties
- Middle East experience preferred
