Key Responsibilities:
1. Instruction and Training:
- Teach laboratory techniques and procedures in accordance with the curriculum and learning objectives.
- Prepare and deliver lectures demonstrations and handson training sessions to students.
- Provide guidance and support to students during laboratory exercises ensuring they understand experimental protocols and safety procedures.
2. Laboratory Preparation and Maintenance:
- Prepare lab materials equipment and supplies for experiments ensuring everything is ready for student use.
- Maintain laboratory equipment performing routine inspections and troubleshooting as necessary.
- Ensure all lab materials and chemicals are stored properly and disposed of in accordance with safety regulations.
3. Safety and Compliance:
- Enforce laboratory safety protocols and best practices to ensure a safe learning environment.
- Conduct safety training sessions for students and staff regarding the proper use of equipment and handling of hazardous materials.
- Monitor compliance with safety regulations and protocols during lab activities.
4. Assessment and Evaluation:
- Assess student performance in laboratory exercises providing constructive feedback and grading lab reports.
- Develop and administer assessments quizzes and practical exams to evaluate student understanding of laboratory concepts.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance performance and progress.
5. Curriculum Development:
- Collaborate with faculty and other instructors to develop and update laboratory curricula and instructional materials.
- Stay current with developments in the field and integrate new techniques and technologies into the lab program.
- Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to discussions on curriculum improvement and student learning outcomes.
6. Student Support and Mentoring:
- Provide additional support to students through office hours tutoring sessions or study groups.
- Mentor students in their research projects or capstone experiences guiding them in experimental design and analysis.
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student engagement and collaboration.
7. Administrative Duties:
- Assist with budget management for lab supplies and equipment ensuring efficient use of resources.
- Order and maintain inventory of laboratory supplies and materials ensuring adequate stock levels.
- Participate in departmental accreditation and assessment activities as required.
