Intern

The Field Support Intern will work under the supervision of the Regional Project Officer (RPO) to assist in coordinating and implementing integrated health outreach activities including routine immunization and health screening services as part of the Saving Lives and Livelihoods (SLL) Phase II Project. The two interns will support project execution in Lindi and Kagera regions respectively focusing on ensuring smooth coordination with district teams supporting vaccine logistics and managing data collection and reporting. The position is designed to ensure a strong Amref presence on the ground enhance timely coordination of field activities and support performance monitoring through quality data systems.

Specific Roles and Responsibilities

1. Coordination and Administration

• Support timely collection completion and submission of payment and activity forms to the RPO.
• Assist in communicating and coordinating with local government authorities health facility in-charges and outreach teams.

2. Support for Integrated Outreach and Routine Immunization Services

• Assist the Regional/District Immunization and Vaccine Officer (R/DIVO) in monitoring the availability and distribution of vaccines and related tools across supported health facilities.
• Support logistics related to the distribution and redistribution of vaccines and outreach commodities from regional to district and facility levels.
• Help follow up with the R/DIVO on effective vaccine and commodity utilization to minimize wastage.
• Support implementation of integrated health outreaches including planning execution and monitoring of services such as immunization NCD screening and other services.

3. Monitoring Data Collection and Reporting

• Assist with routine data collection from health facilities and outreach teams and ensure timely submission to the RPO and R/DIVO.
• Conduct data quality checks including daily validation and verification of reports with guidance from the RPO and district teams.
• Visit health facilities and outreach sites to follow up on data reporting gaps and improve timely data submission.
• Support entry and consolidation of service delivery data into national and project-specific reporting systems.
• Provide daily updates to the R/DIVO and weekly summaries to the RPO and District Medical Officer (DMO).
• Monitor facility performance against monthly targets and follow up with underperforming sites to implement corrective actions.
• Collaborate with health facility in-charges outreach teams and vaccinators to ensure consistent and quality reporting.
• Contribute to the development of weekly reports and participate in project progress review meetings with the R/CHMT and project team.

Qualifications :

• Diploma Advance Diploma in health sciences Social sciences or Statistics. Degree holders will have an advantage
• Ability to work under pressure
• Familiarity with the Tanzania health system at sub-national level
• Computer skills specifically with Ms Excel Ms Access and PowerPoint applications.
• Good interpersonal and people management skills-a team player and builder.
• Good command of English and Swahili language will be an added advantage
