SUMMARY: Under the general direction of the supervisor of Health Information Management this specialist is responsible for processing all requests for medical record retrieval filing and retrieving records and processing all incoming reports needing filing in these records. This employee carries out no Supervisory or management functions.All work is carried out in accordance with the departments approved policies and procedures.
SKILLS REQUIRED: Experience in a position requiring attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to maintain confidentially with regard to all phase of the work. Ability to withstand the pressures of continual deadlines and receipt of work with variable requirements. A trainee is acceptable provided the individual meets the established work standards within eight 8 weeks of mandatory training program for this job. Ability to process work error free within prescribed deadlines and time frames. Proficiency in using computers and ability to quickly gain competency in various hospital software applications. Ability to process work using both alphabetical and numerical filing system. Ability to work as a team player. Ability to concentrate and maintain accuracy in spite of frequent interruptions. Ability to be courteous tactful and cooperative throughout the working day.
