Requirements

Education and Certification Requirements

Fiber Optic Engineer candidates are expected to possess at least a bachelor s degree in Engineering specifically in fields like Electrical Engineering Telecommunications or a related field. The education should provide a robust foundation in electronic principles network design and project management. Additionally the following certifications can enhance a candidate s qualifications:

• Certified Fiber Optic Technician (CFOT) from the Fiber Optic Association (FOA)
  
• Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or similar networkspecific certifications
  

Experience with industrystandard software for design and simulation as well as handson experience in the field are highly beneficial.
