AWS Cloud Cost Optimization Engineer

We are seeking an AWS Cloud Cost Optimization Engineer to be part of our AWS Cloud business unknit that provides Cloud Advisory and Migration services to Fortune 500 clients. She / He will be a key SME on software license cost optimization for Cloud migrations typically performed during the Assess phase of AWS cloud engagements. You will be partnering with cloud engineering & development teams to drive the business case for clients so they can see the benefit of moving to the cloud. The right candidate for the role will be able to dive in and develop an understanding of Persistent's service offering such as advisory, VMware on AWS, AWS Cloud native migrations, Windows workloads migrations, Oracle workload migrations etc. Using tools such as Cloudamize and/or AWS Migration Evaluator, you will obtain data and develop a comparative cost analysis for Windows workload migration to AWS. This is referred to as AWS OLA (Operational & Licensing Assessment).

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop a deep understanding of AWS MAP & OLA assessments for Windows and Oracle workloads
• Develop a deep understanding of AWS Migration Evaluator, AWS Cost Explorer, Cloudamize for cost analysis
• Develop a deep understanding of VMware-based workload migrations cost analysis using the above tools
• Analyze the data collected and identify the optimal cloud migration so that TCO is lowest.
• Work with right AWS partner teams to confirm the TCO model
• Document the findings of the assessment & business case with different options and present recommendation to client stakeholders in Cloud, Finance and leadership with a PoV on least cost TCO approach.
• Drive assessment and cost analysis advisory for our cloud practice

Position Requirements:

• 7+ years of experience in AWS cloud migrations (lift & shift and/or cloud & container native) with some of the period in cost optimization and AWS MAP and OLA assessments.
• Experience using tools such as Cloudamize, AWS Migration Evaluator (TCO Logic) and AWS Cost Explorer
• Experience creating cost optimization models for Windows, VMware & Oracle Workloads
• Good understanding on AWS Discount plans, Committed Use Discounts, Reserved Instances, chargeback reporting
• Deep analytical skills: a passion for gathering information from various sources, analyzing and presenting your recommendations to key client stakeholders.
• Ability to lead discussions about complex solution design tradeoffs and drive conflict resolution.
• Self-motivated and eager to learn new technologies
• Hands-on, can-do attitude, focused on delivering results
• Ability to work at all levels within the company
