Position: Senior Marine Construction Engineer

Job Summary: The Senior Marine Construction Engineer is responsible for providing technical leadership and supervision for the execution of marine and coastal infrastructure projects ensuring that all works are carried out in accordance with approved designs technical specifications international standards project schedules and safety requirements. The role focuses on the successful delivery of marine construction activities including ports marinas quays breakwaters jetties seawalls dredging works coastal protection structures and associated marine infrastructure.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

Technical Supervision & Site Control

• Ensure full-time presence on site during critical marine construction activities.
  
• Supervise marine construction works and verify compliance with approved drawings specifications method statements and quality standards.
  
• Identify and report design discrepancies technical conflicts omissions and constructability issues.
  
• Review and assess subcontractors technical proposals method statements and temporary works designs.
  
• Monitor execution of marine structures including:
  
• Breakwaters
  
• Quay walls
  
• Jetties
  
• Seawalls
  
• Revetments
  
• Pile-supported structures
  
• Dredging and reclamation works
  
• Coastal protection systems
  
• Review and approve construction methodologies related to marine operations heavy lifting piling dredging marine plant operations and temporary works.
  
• Conduct regular inspections and quality checks to ensure compliance with project requirements.
  
• Verify materials equipment marine plant and workforce competency before commencement of works.
  

Project Planning & Coordination

• Support the Construction Manager in planning marine construction activities and resource allocation.
  
• Monitor progress against the approved construction schedule and identify risks or delays.
  
• Coordinate marine operations with subcontractors designers surveyors and other project stakeholders.
  
• Assist in procurement activities through technical evaluation of suppliers subcontractors marine equipment and specialist contractors.
  
• Participate in technical meetings with clients consultants authorities and contractors.
  
• Coordinate interface management between marine and landside construction activities.
  

Quality Assurance & Compliance

• Ensure compliance with project specifications international maritime standards and applicable regulations.
  
• Monitor implementation of quality control procedures and inspection test plans (ITPs).
  
• Ensure compliance with environmental requirements related to marine works.
  
• Verify implementation of HSE requirements for marine operations.
  
• Support resolution of technical non-conformities and corrective actions.
  

Contract Administration & Cost Control

• Review and verify subcontractors monthly progress measurements and Interim Payment Certificates (IPCs).
  
• Assist in evaluation of variation orders claims and additional works.
  
• Support monitoring of project costs related to marine construction activities.
  
• Provide technical input for contractual correspondence and project reporting.
  

Documentation & Reporting

• Support for preparation of daily weekly and monthly progress reports.
  
• Maintain accurate records of site activities inspections tests and construction progress.
  
• Ensure technical documentation is updated and maintained throughout project execution.
  
• Support preparation of as-built documentation and handover records.
  

Team Leadership

• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers and site staff (if applicable).
  
• Coordinate surveyors inspectors and subcontractors involved in marine construction works.
  
• Promote best practices in construction quality safety and technical excellence.
  
• Support knowledge transfer and continuous improvement initiatives within the project team.
  

Requirements

Education:

• Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering.
  
• Masters Degree in Structural Engineering Coastal Engineering Marine Engineering or related field is considered an advantage.
  
• Professional Engineering License or equivalent certification is preferred
  

Requirements:

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 10 years of professional experience in civil and marine construction projects.
  
• Minimum 7 years of direct experience in the execution of marine infrastructure projects.
  
• Proven experience in at least three of the following project types:
  
• Ports and harbors
  
• Marinas
  
• Breakwaters
  
• Quay walls
  
• Jetties
  
• Seawalls
  
• Coastal protection works
  
• Dredging and reclamation projects
  
• Offshore or waterfront infrastructure
  
• Experience working under FIDIC contracts is highly desirable.
  
• Experience with international contractors and multidisciplinary project teams is preferred.
