We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Field Site Engineer Instrumentation and Control (Non-Western) to manage and oversee the instrumentation and control systems during the construction installation testing and commissioning phases of large power projects and synchronous condenser projects. The ideal candidate will hold a bachelors degree in Instrumentation and Control Engineering (or a related discipline) approved by the Saudi Council of Engineers and will have a minimum of eight (8) years of relevant experience in large-scale power systems. The position requires leadership technical expertise and strong communication skills to ensure the efficient delivery of the project.
Key Responsibilities:
Site Supervision & Coordination:
- Oversee the construction and installation of instrumentation and control systems at the project site ensuring adherence to technical specifications safety standards and project timelines.
- Coordinate with the electrical mechanical and other engineering teams to ensure smooth execution of project activities.
- Conduct regular inspections and monitoring of site work to ensure quality control and compliance with approved designs.
Testing & Commissioning:
- Supervise the testing and commissioning activities of instrumentation and control systems after construction and installation.
- Prepare and review test plans procedures and schedules ensuring that all systems meet operational safety and performance requirements.
- Collaborate with the commissioning team to troubleshoot and resolve any issues that arise during testing ensuring the system is ready for full operational use.
Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of all installation testing and commissioning activities including inspection reports test results and project documentation.
- Prepare progress reports for senior management detailing project status challenges and solutions.
- Ensure that all changes or modifications to the instrumentation and control systems are well documented with appropriate approvals and clear communication.
Technical Support & Troubleshooting:
- Provide technical support for troubleshooting and resolving instrumentation and control issues encountered during the construction installation or commissioning phases.
- Analyze system malfunctions assess root causes and recommend corrective actions to ensure system performance is optimized.
- Liaise with vendors and other stakeholders to address any technical challenges or inquiries related to instrumentation systems.
Team Collaboration & Leadership:
- Lead and guide the instrumentation and control team providing technical expertise training and support to junior engineers and site personnel.
- Foster effective communication across teams to resolve issues and promote the efficient execution of the project.
- Motivate and manage team members to ensure the timely completion of project tasks maintaining high standards of work quality.
Health Safety and Environmental Compliance:
- Enforce safety regulations and ensure that all personnel adhere to safety protocols on the job site.
- Conduct safety inspections risk assessments and audits to minimize risks and promote a safe working environment.
- Ensure that all instrumentation and control systems are installed in accordance with environmental and regulatory requirements.
Project Quality Assurance:
- Monitor and ensure that all instrumentation and control systems are installed and tested according to project specifications quality standards and industry best practices.
- Participate in quality assurance reviews and audits to verify the quality of workmanship and compliance with project specifications.
Qualifications :
- Education: Bachelors degree in Instrumentation and Control Engineering or a related discipline approved by the Saudi Council of Engineers.
- Experience: Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in instrumentation and control systems for large power projects and synchronous condenser projects.
- Skills and Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of instrumentation and control systems including SCADA DCS PLCs field instrumentation and control devices.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word Excel PowerPoint).
- Familiarity with Management Information Systems (MIS) for project tracking and reporting.
- Strong leadership skills with experience managing teams in a field environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings schematics and project specifications.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills for complex instrumentation systems.
- Certifications: Must be approved by the Saudi Council of Engineers.
