Job Description

TITLE:TEACHER

Qualifications:
possess a valid California Teaching Credential or equivalent.
have a valid California Drivers License.

Reports to:
The principal or designee.

Job Goal: To help students learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their development as mature able and responsible men and women.

Performance Responsibilities:
courses to secondary students using the course of study adopted by the Board of Education and appropriate curriculum publications as guidelines in teaching individual course content.
and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
lesson plans and appropriate instructional aids.
concepts using models chalkboard overhead projector calculators computers and other standard or teacher-prepared instructional aids.
opportunities when needed for individualized and small-group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student.
learning activities that will relate curriculum to the real world situations.
and maintains standards of pupil behavior needed to provide an orderly productive classroom environment.
each pupils progress in curriculum knowledge and skills.
and requisitions books instructional aids and instructional supplies; maintains required inventory records.
with parents to interpret contemporary methods in teaching curriculum and with parents and school counselors to discuss the individual students progress.
student needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students solve health attitude and learning problems.
students in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned workday.
in curriculum and other developmental programs.
professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the district and in self-selected professional growth activities.
in faculty committees and sponsorship of student activities.

a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.
to implement by instruction and action the districts philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives.
all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students equipment materials and facilities.
accurate complete and correct records as required by law district policy and administrative regulation.
the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct and for the classroom develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure and maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.
provision for being available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms.
and supervises purposeful assignments for teacher aide(s) and volunteer(s) and cooperatively with department heads evaluates their job performance.
staff meetings and serves on staff committees as required.

Terms of Employment:
A teacher shall work 181 days as set forth in the Annual Board Approved Calendar.

Evaluation:
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with Board policy on evaluation and the Yosemite Teachers Association collective bargaining agreement.
