Job Description
Position Overview

Our client is seeking a Workers Compensation Defense Attorney with at least one year of California workers compensation defense experience. This is a fully remote opportunity offering the flexibility to work from anywhere in California while managing a diverse caseload and representing employers insurance carriers and third-party administrators in workers compensation matters.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage workers compensation defense cases from inception through resolution.
  • Take depositions and appear before various California WCAB venues as needed.
  • Handle cases of varying complexity independently.
  • Develop proactive legal strategies to efficiently resolve claims.
  • Negotiate and settle cases-in-chief and lien matters.
  • Draft pleadings legal motions reports and correspondence.
  • Prepare opening reports hearing reports and deposition reports in accordance with client guidelines.
  • Maintain strong relationships with clients and provide regular case updates.
  • Respond to client inquiries within 24 hours.
  • Review legal documents for accuracy formatting filing requirements signatures service requirements and compliance with court rules.
  • Ensure adherence to all client guidelines and deadlines.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 1 year of California workers compensation defense experience (required).
  • Active license to practice law in California.
  • Strong litigation negotiation and deposition experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to independently manage a caseload.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Client-focused with the ability to build and maintain professional relationships.
Caseload
  • Typical attorney caseload ranges from 60–75 files with flexibility depending on experience.
