Job Summary

Work Study - Utica Campus Library Assistant
Salary:Minimum Wage

This is a front-facing position at the library. Workers will be expected to greet and interact with library patrons answer basic questions and monitor the library space for messes or disruption. Workers will learn the general operations of the library and help staff and librarians wherever needed.

General duties include greeting and directing patrons; monitoring for and cleaning messes; keeping the collections tidy and organized; opening and closing the lab and study areas as necessary; checking and refilling printers staplers and other supplies regularly; keeping staff and librarians informed about any problems that arise in the library.

Additional duties may be assigned by librarians for special projects throughout the semester.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

  • Must be a current MVCC student with work study funds available
  • Punctuality and dependability a must
  • Basic computer skills and the ability to assist students with basic questions
  • Ability to learn Library Call No. system to help students find library material
  • Open and friendly communication with patrons and staff

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous customer service or library work a plus
