JOB TITLE:

Insect Lab Technician

DEPARTMENT INFORMATION:

Zoology & Physiology

Job location: Biological Sciences Building (Coop Laboratory) University of Wyoming Laramie WY

Pay rate or range: $15/hour

JOB PURPOSE:

Technicians assist in the processing of insect samples collected for avian research conducted in the Wyoming Cooperative Fish & Wildlife Research Unit at the University of Wyoming.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

-help isolate insects from soil samples in a laboratory settings

-assist with insect identification and measurements

-maintain a clean and safe lab environment

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

-must demonstrate strong attention to detail and care in work

-must communicate effectively

-must be able to work problem-solve and manage time independently

Must be eligible have received and accepted work study award through Student Financial Aid for the applicable semester and/or academic year.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

-prior experience working in a laboratory setting

-actively pursuing a career in biological sciences/natural resources

EDUCATIONAL BENEFITS APPLICABLE TO CAREERS:

-experience working/problem-solving independently

-experience working with biological samples in a laboratory setting

WORK LOCATION:

On-Campus: This position provides vital support to campus customers and the successful candidate must be available to work and perform essential job functions on campus understanding our location is at 7220 feet above sea level
