US Renewables & Power is seeking a Development Manager to lead renewable energy project development activities within the Eastern Wind Development region. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated leader to drive complex projects provide strategic direction across multiple workstreams and contribute to the development of impactful renewable energy solutions.

In this role you will lead wind energy projects across the Eastern United States including the NYISO and PJM service territories. You will be responsible for advancing projects through key development milestones managing project strategy budgets schedules and risks while coordinating cross-functional teams across interconnection land permitting environmental engineering commercial and stakeholder engagement functions.

Working closely with senior leadership and subject matter experts you will help shape project strategy build alignment among stakeholders and drive successful project outcomes. You will represent AES in meetings presentations regulatory proceedings and stakeholder engagements while serving as the primary development lead for assigned projects. As part of the US Renewables & Power Project Development team you will partner with a wide range of disciplines and provide leadership throughout the project lifecycle.

This position may be based in a hybrid work environment and requires travel to project locations and AES offices as needed.

You will work alongside professionals across growth strategy land acquisition permitting real estate external affairs stakeholder relations legal finance engineering interconnection construction and other critical project functions creating opportunities to influence project outcomes and organizational success.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead all aspects of project development including project strategy budgets schedules and risk management.
  • Own project development plans and provide leadership to cross-functional teams to advance projects toward key development milestones.
  • Identify assess and resolve risks across permitting policy commercial technical environmental regulatory and schedule-related workstreams.
  • Coordinate and lead cross-functional efforts among project partners and subject matter experts.
  • Facilitate project meetings and drive decision-making with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Communicate project risks opportunities recommendations and key decisions to leadership and project teams.
  • Deliver professional presentations and represent project interests in internal and external forums.
  • Manage contractual obligations associated with key project agreements.
  • Lead discretionary permitting activities including permitting strategy development permit tracking collaboration with regulatory authorities and participation in public hearings.
  • Partner closely with cross-functional teams to ensure project alignment and successful execution.
  • Direct environmental studies site surveys due diligence activities and associated reporting.
  • Collaborate with internal and external engineering teams as project design and engineering activities advance.
  • Support contractor selection efforts alongside the construction management team.
  • Coordinate with execution teams to secure required ministerial permits.
  • Lead project handoff activities to project execution teams once projects are fully developed and permitted.
  • Support project financing efforts by coordinating diligence activities and providing required documentation.
  • Manage relationships with external consultants and contractors including oversight of associated project expenditures and performance.
  • Provide leadership analysis and reporting support for business development and project pipeline activities.
  • Mentor and support less experienced development team members as appropriate.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Approximately 7-10 years of experience in renewable energy development project development infrastructure development or a related field.
  • Bachelors degree in renewable energy urban planning logistics finance business engineering project or construction management or a related discipline; equivalent experience will also be considered.
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex projects and coordinating cross-functional teams.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of renewable energy project development utility infrastructure interconnection processes permitting and contracting.
  • Familiarity with renewable energy and energy storage technologies.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills including presentation stakeholder engagement negotiation and conflict resolution capabilities.
  • Ability to influence stakeholders and drive alignment across diverse teams.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team-oriented environment.
  • Willingness and ability to travel approximately 30% of the time with additional travel as project needs require.
  • Experience using CRM platforms and developing meaningful project metrics and reporting.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and adapt in a dynamic fast-paced environment.
  • Experience interacting with regulatory agencies community stakeholders consultants and external development partners preferred.

The expected salary for this position at commencement of employment is between $110000 and $137700/year; however base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors including market location job-related knowledge skills and experience. The total compensation package for this position also includes annual bonus. The benefits offered for this position are: medical dental and vision coverage life insurance 401(k) eligibility and paid time off (including vacation sick leave time and parental leave). Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if a candidate receives an offer of employment.
