We are seeking a full-time Wellness Advisor to support the NIH Office of Intramural Training & Education (OITE) in providing strategic direction direct advising educational programming to biomedical trainees in the NIH Intramural Research Program. This position is hybrid role primarily based at the NIH main campus in Bethesda Maryland with attendance at in-person meetings workshops or events as.
What You Will Do:
Provide strategic vision and subject matterexpertisefor wellness resilience emotional health trainee persistence mentoring challenges workplace and interpersonal concerns and other barriers to success in research environments.
Meet individually with trainees and staff to discuss wellbeing and emotional health concerns develop individualized wellness strategies and navigate challenging academic professional and personal situations.
Coordinate support for trainees experiencing acute stressors andconnectindividuals withappropriate NIHor external resourcesin accordance withapplicable policies and procedures.
Coordinate multiple wellness advisors through regular meetingsappropriate casediscussions trainee connections and referrals to outside support resources when needed.
Design and deliver wellness and resilience workshops support groups small-group discussions guided meditation journaling sessions and community-building activities for intramural and extramural audiences.
Support high-profile programming including the Mental Health Series Resilience Series and new wellness and resilience initiatives directed by the Government.
Develop educational materials blog posts facilitation guides presentations and other wellness-related content; provide editorial guidance and review to contributing writers.
Collaborate across OITE NIH offices and external partners to plan integrate and align wellness initiatives andspecial events.
Coordinate eventlogistics calendars participant communications outreach materials and marketing plans for wellness resources events and support groups.
Evaluate participation engagement and program effectiveness using Government-approved qualitative and/or quantitative methods and recommend continuous improvements based on findings feedback and emerging trends.
Prepare required work plans monthly activity reports programming plans event materials evaluation reports and annual summariesin accordance withGovernment direction and due dates.
Maintainconfidentiality privacy discretion and professional conduct in all trainee and staff interactions and do notrepresentservices as clinical treatment unless specifically authorized and appropriately credentialed
Travel as authorized to NIH branch campuses or other approved locations within 50 miles of the NIH main campus.
What You Will Need:
Bachelors degree.
Minimum of six (6) years of demonstrated experience in wellness advising resilience programming trainee development and/or mental health-informed support services for academic biomedical or research populations.
Demonstratedsubject matterexpertisein wellness resilience emotional health and trainee support.
Experience designing and implementing educational and support programming.
Experience working with graduate students postdoctoral fellows clinical fellows or similar trainee populations.
Experiencefacilitatingworkshopssmall-groupdiscussions and community-building events.
Experience coordinating complex stakeholder relationships and cross-functional initiatives.
Strong written and oral communication skills including the ability to develop clear accessible and audience-appropriate materials.
Ability to recognize when a trainee should be referred toappropriate clinical NIH or external support services.
Ability to safeguard sensitive personal information and follow applicable NIH HHS and Federal requirements for confidentiality privacy records handling and professional conduct.
Ability to complete any required suitability determination and obtain an NIH PIV badge or other access credentials.

What Would Be Nice To Have:
Advanced degree in counseling psychology public health social work education organizational development or a related field.
Experience evaluating wellness programs and using findings to support continuous improvement.
Experience developing wellness communications educational content or support group programming.
Experience supporting trainee wellbeing within NIH academic biomedical research or similarly complex environments.
